One of the fun projects that's unique to Cayucos Rotary is awarding music scholarships to college students looking to pursue a career in the music industry or related industries.

Five years ago, Cayucos Rotary created a "Chungsam Doh Music Scholarship Fund" to honor and thank Past District Governor, Chungsam Doh, for mentoring and supporting Cayucos Rotary.  PDG Chungsam was so humbled that he personally contributed to the fund.

Since the establishment, Cayucos Rotary's 'music scholarships' committee would hop over to Cuesta Community College in San Luis Obispo each and participate in the audition, where aspiring musicians sang, played the piano, saxophone, guitar, or did vocals as well as play an instrument. After the audition, our members were consulted on which students played best.  Though Cayucos Rotarians do defer to the music director at Cuesta College,  input was sought and provided.  Four students had been selected each year in the past four years.

The finalists would receive scholarships of $1,000 each. The students were also invited to attend Cayucos Rotary's popular Masquerade evening and perform their masterpiece, where each student was recognized and awarded   their scholarship.  The scholarship award tradition continues in this Rotary year.

Cayucos Rotary is happy to be able to support these college students in the performing arts arena.
