The Rotary Club of China Lake is proud to announce the creation of the Community Scholarship Fair in Ridgecrest, CA! The fair was held on February 20th and hosted community organizations offering scholarships to local learners.  Whether they were a high school senior, current college student, or considering college later in life, we created a one-stop shop for scholarship opportunities.

Attendees were able to meet local organizations offering scholarships for trade and vocational schools, community colleges, and 4-year universities; complete applications onsite; learn about the application criteria and process. Spanish bilingual translation was available; Financial Aid Reps were there to assist; and we encouraged parents to attend.
The first ever Scholarship Fair was a resounding success! Almost 250 students/parents/community members attended. Eighteen organizations were present to discuss their scholarships and there was over $750,000 in scholarship money available to students.

Our club will follow up with the organizations to see if they experienced an influx of applicants attributable to the fair. We are proud to report that we saw a strong representation of students from all schools in both Ridgecrest and nearby Trona in attendance and are looking forward to hosting this event again next year!

Ultimately, we hope that the students learned of new scholarship opportunities, organizations garnered a bigger pool of applicants, and that the fair was, and continues to be, financially rewarding for students and parents across our community. We are very proud Rotarians to have created this event for our community!
