In the Winter of 2025, the Conejos Valley Rotary Club, seven members of our District 5240 attended the 10th Annual Rotary Projects Fair in Medellin, Colombia. At the end of the January we flew out from LAX to Panama, and landed in Rio Negro right outside of Medellin. Medellin is the 2nd largest city in Colombia in a huge valley. The fair took place from January 30th to February 2, 2025. Over 50 Rotarians from 6 different countries attended this Rotary Projects Fair including Canada, USA, Brazil, Panama, France, and Colombia. In addition, over 100 local Rotarians from Colombia participated in this fair showing over 77 Rotary projects to be done in Colombia. There we were able to explore opportunities for international collaboration and crowdfunding support. Many of projects included clean water, medical equipment, health, education, water and sanitation, economic development, the environment, and more.
During the projects fair, we were able to attend presentations and workshops on a variety of humanitarian projects and network with many Rotarians from around the world. In addition to our Rotary work, we were able to enjoy and experience the local cuisine, visit the famous artistβs work at the Botero museum, gaze at the street art of Comuna 13, climb the unique Rock βPenol of Guatapeβ that stands nearly 700 feet high and offers extraordinary views of the Guatape lake, and much more!
Our very own Conejo Valley Rotary Club will be participating in 5 of the projects that were presented by the local Rotarians of Rotary District 4271 and 4281. Notably, our Conejo club as participated in 8 of the 10 total Colombia projects fairs!
