District Governor Nick Frankle's Message
NOVEMBER IS FOUNDATION MONTH
This year we are celebrating 100 years of our Rotary Foundation doing good in the world.
Through our Foundation Rotarians have supported thousands of projects to provide clean water, fight disease, promote peace, provide basic education, and grow local economies. Rotary, through our Foundation, is a leader in the fight to eradicate polio worldwide. More than $3B in humanitarian grants have changed the lives of countless people right here in District 5240 and in communities around the world. In pursuing our goal of Service Above Self, perhaps one of those changed lives was your own.
Many thanks to those who have already made their initial contribution to The Rotary Foundation and those many more who will do so before the end of the year. The District 5240 Foundation Gala recognized 46 Rotary clubs and 2 Rotaract Clubs that met the 26.50 challenge. We honored fifteen Rotarians in our district who have become Major Donors this Rotary Year. We celebrated with PDG Brenda Cressey who became a member of the Arch Klumph Society and who will begin her service as a Trustee of The Rotary Foundation in July 2017.

This November take time to remember the good in the world that you and your club have done with the support of The Rotary Foundation. Have you impacted the lives of students by providing scholarships to continue their education or learn a skill? What differences have you made in your local community? How has your participation in a Rotary Foundation grant or an international project changed the lives of people somewhere else in the world?
This 100th Anniversary celebration is the perfect time to share the work of The Rotary Foundation. Plan now to ensure that during this centennial year, every Rotary member and the people in your community know about the work of Rotary and The Rotary Foundation.
- Dedicate some club meetings to Rotary Foundation topics. Our district has many speakers to help you.
- Plan a special Rotary Day and invite everyone in your community to participate. It can be anything from a concert to a race to a birthday party with a giant cake in the shape of the Rotary wheel.
- Hold a fundraiser in your community to support a Foundation grant project, the Rotary Peace Centers, or Polio Plus.
- Participate in a global grant or district grant project.
- Promote your club or district projects that are funded by the Foundation.
- Challenge members to increase their contributions to the Foundation.
