The Rotary Clubs of Group 4—Westlake Village Sunrise, Westlake Village Noon, Thousand Oaks, Conejo, and Next Gen—came together this month for a special act of service and love for our community’s children. Volunteers gathered at Art Trek in Newbury Park, rolling up their sleeves to fill 600 brand-new backpacks with school supplies such as crayons, erasers, paper, and other essentials.
This backpack-stuffing project was made possible through a partnership with two incredible nonprofit organizations, Safe Passage Youth Foundation and Art Trek, who share Rotary’s commitment to helping young people succeed.

For many children in the Conejo Valley, the first day of school can bring both excitement and uncertainty—especially if they don’t have the tools they need to learn. Thanks to this effort, 600 students will walk into their classrooms with everything they need to start the year prepared, confident, and full of hope.
This project was more than just providing supplies—it was about sending a message to each child: You are valued, your future matters, and your community believes in you.
Rotary is proud to live its motto, Service Above Self, through projects like this that make a tangible difference in people’s lives. Together, we are helping to build brighter futures, one backpack at a time.
