The Grover Beach Rotary Club awarded a “Service Above Self” award to Grover Beach Elementary school’s counselor Sienna Robertson. Sienna came up with an international project for the children to be involved in 2023. We as a club gave $2500 to the project which was providing clean water to a kindergarten school in Vietnam. In 2024 Sienna came back to tell our club about her newest project that she was participating in with the children.
Sienna started at Grover Beach elementary school in 2022. She was new to this school and came in to help the children understand that the world is bigger than just themselves. For those acts our club awarded her with a “Service Above Self" award. Sadly before school started in August of 2024, Sienna decided not to return to Grover Beach elementary. We also attempted to convince her last summer to join our club as we felt she would bring youthful energy and good ideas to the club. Awarding Sienna this award was a highlight of my 24-25 Rotary year because she was a valued member of our school system.
