At its Tuesday morning regular meeting, the Kern County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a proclamation recognizing September as Service Club Month in Kern County.
The proclamation, introduced by Supervisor Jeff Flores, honors the many service clubs whose members volunteer their time and resources to improve the quality of life and beautify communities across the valley.

Rotary Assistant Governor Douglas Carothers of Bakersfield accepted the proclamation on behalf of local service clubs and delivered remarks encouraging to leave space for more service.
“As we embark on this Month of Service, I encourage all the people of Kern County to think about where in their life they might have space for a little more service.” Said Carothers “Because here in Kern County, there is always a Rotary club, Church, Lion’s Club, Kiwanis, or even a bowling league that could use your help.”
