The photo below displays a collection of educational materials used in Mexico as part of the “Niñas Sabinas” (Wise Girls) program, which is designed to teach young girls about their bodies in a respectful, empowering, and age-appropriate way. These materials serve as visual and interactive tools to facilitate open, informed conversations about female anatomy, hygiene, puberty, and overall health. By presenting this essential information in a culturally sensitive and supportive environment, the program helps to foster confidence and body awareness among young girls.
Developed by RC of San Miguel de Allende Midday, this initiative is implemented in elementary schools targeting girls in middle school. The goal is to reach them at a pivotal age where understanding their own development can lead to better self-care, healthier choices, and a stronger sense of self-worth. Trained facilitators guide the sessions, creating a safe space for girls to ask questions and share their thoughts—many for the first time in a formal setting. The Niñas Sabinas program stands out not only for its educational value but also for its commitment to empowering girls through knowledge.

Simi Sunrise Rotary plays an essential role in supporting the Niñas Sabinas program, both financially through grants and through direct involvement. Members of Simi Sunrise Rotary contribute funds to help cover the costs of materials and training, and they also volunteer their time during visits to San Miguel de Allende, engaging with local facilitators and witnessing the impact of the program firsthand. This partnership demonstrates the power of global collaboration within Rotary, as clubs work together to create sustainable, meaningful change in the lives of young women around the world.
