Environmental: Beach Cleanup:

The marine layer was still peeling back from the Pismo Pier on September 20, 2025, as the Pismo Beach Five Cities Rotary Club geared up for ECOSLO’s Coastal Cleanup. As site coordinator, I watched our 25 volunteers transform into a focused team, trading morning coffee for trash grabbers and buckets.

There’s a unique camaraderie in scouring the tideline. We fanned out across the sand, uncovering everything from weathered plastic to hidden snack wrappers. The morning was defined by a shared sense of purpose: protecting the coast we call home.

The Results:

Volunteers: 25 dedicated locals
Impact: 41 pounds of debris removed
Outcome: A cleaner, safer Pacific coastline

By noon, the beach looked pristine, but the real reward was the community spirit. Huge thanks to everyone who showed up—you proved that "Service Above Self" can change the tide.

Membership: Satellite Club

The energy at Rod and Hammer Distillery was electric as we officially launched our new satellite club. Designed for those with "Service Above Self" hearts but 21st-century schedules, this new branch caters to younger professionals balancing tight budgets and busy lives.

Between the copper stills and the aroma of aging spirits, we hosted a fantastic distillery tour that felt more like a gathering of friends than a formal meeting. The casual atmosphere struck a chord; it turns out that when you remove the rigid barriers of traditional schedules, the community shows up in droves.

The Impact:
  • The Launch: A packed house at Rotten Hammer.
  • The Growth: 18 new members signed up within a single week.
  • The Result: Our club numbers nearly doubled overnight.
This isn't just about growth; it’s about evolution. By making Rotary accessible to the next generation, we’ve ensured that the spirit of the Five Cities stays vibrant and inclusive. Cheers to our newest members—we’re just getting started.
