On October 15, Mark Wilkinson, Executive Director of the Santa Barbara County Trails Council, spoke to the Rotary Club of Carpinteria Morning about Explore Carpinteria, an exciting new project to create an interactive community asset map of Carpinteria’s natural, cultural, and historic resources. The first phase of Explore Carpinteria was supported by a seed money grant from the Morning Rotary Club.
Wilkinson described the project as “a community-driven initiative to celebrate and visualize Carpinteria’s natural heritage, cultural heritage, historic sites, and landmarks.” The project will include online and printable maps to guide visitors and highlight community treasures. Explore Carpinteria recently launched its website at https://explorecarpinteria.com, which includes the opportunity to contribute to a survey about community preferences and needs. “We can write the story of Carpinteria together to preserve the past, celebrate the present, and celebrate the future,” Wilkinson said.
