In August, the Rotary Club of San Luis Obispo hosted its first-ever Drive-Thru BBQ fundraiser, and the results were both delicious and impactful! With the help of our Rotary BBQ team, we sold 71 family meals—tri-tip or chicken, sourdough garlic bread, salad, and ranch beans—and raised over $3,000 to support local scholarships.

Our BBQ crew has been serving up good meals for years—including regularly cooking for the Prado Shelter—and we think they may just be the best Santa Maria–style BBQ team in town.

A highlight of the day came when Good Samaritan Shelter arrived to pick up 10 meals purchased by one of our generous Rotarians. Those meals were immediately delivered to individuals in need, turning an already successful fundraiser into an even greater act of service.

This event not only raised funds for youth in our community but also showcased how Rotary service multiplies—supporting education, fighting food insecurity, and strengthening community connections all in one afternoon.

We’re grateful to everyone who purchased meals, volunteered, or spread the word, and we look forward to making this new tradition even bigger in the years ahead!
