In April, members of the Rotary Club of San Luis Obispo rolled up their sleeves. They got their hands dirty for a great cause—planting nine new trees at Laguna Lake Park in partnership with the City of San Luis Obispo’s Ranger Service Division.
The service project took place on April 17 and was led by Ranger Tess Badrigian, who oversaw her first volunteer event with enthusiasm and care. Rotarians met at the kids’ dirt bike jump track and worked through the morning, digging, planting, and watering to help enhance the park’s natural beauty and environmental sustainability.
This project was part of Rotary’s continued commitment to service, community partnership, and environmental stewardship—and the timing couldn’t have been better as Earth Day approached! The trees planted will provide shade, habitat, and a lasting legacy for future generations of parkgoers.
A special thank-you goes out to the City staff for their support, Ranger Tess for coordinating the effort, and all the Rotarians who brought their energy and positive spirit to the project. Chenda brought her daughter, Sarah Rolph, along for the tree planting, making it even more special. And a big shoutout to Chenda, who celebrated her birthday by giving back—because what better way to celebrate than by making a positive impact, especially when you can bring your kid along to join in the fun!
This collaboration is just one of many meaningful ways Rotarians are making a difference in San Luis Obispo and beyond. Here’s to growing stronger, together—one tree at a time!
