Since 1922, the Rotary Club of Santa Maria has served as a steadfast pillar of community service, civic engagement, and fellowship throughout the Santa Maria Valley. For over a century, our club has proudly embodied Rotary International’s guiding motto: “Service Above Self.” Community Service lies at the heart of this mission—encouraging and fostering the spirit of giving in the personal, professional, and civic lives of every Rotarian. For us, service isn’t just an ideal—it’s a way of life.
Our commitment to meaningful and consistent community involvement is reflected in a variety of long-standing projects that serve the Santa Maria Valley year after year, including:
- Buena Vista Park Clean-Up – Held every other month on the third Tuesday, this ongoing project helps preserve Santa Maria’s oldest park as a clean, safe, and welcoming place for the community.
- Salvation Army Bell Ringing – A holiday tradition where Rotarians volunteer their time to support essential local services during the Christmas season.
- Veterans Stand Down – Each October, members volunteer at this impactful event providing resources and support to our local veteran community.
- Rotary Christmas Parade of Lights – Organized annually by our club, this beloved event lights up downtown Santa Maria with joy and holiday cheer each December.
- Rotary Day of Service – A global Rotary initiative in which our club participates in impactful one-day projects; past efforts have included park beautification and tree planting.
- Day of Hope – Each year, club members support this powerful fundraiser, raising awareness and funds for local cancer care initiatives.
Most recently, our club came together to enhance Preisker Park by planting trees and painting over graffiti, Rotarians not only revitalized a public area but reaffirmed our commitment to environmental stewardship and neighborhood pride.
As we approach our 103rd year of service, the Rotary Club of Santa Maria continues to grow its impact—guided by Rotary’s Five Avenues of Service and grounded in the values of fellowship, integrity, diversity, and leadership. Whether through long-standing traditions or new initiatives, our club remains committed to building a better, stronger community—one project at a time.
