On April 6th, 2019, the Rotary Club of Simi Sunrise got together to form a team of hardworking men and women.  Our project for 2019 was to assist The Free Clinic of Simi Valley in getting ready to open their doors for business.  The Free Clinic of Simi  Valley has provided continuous charitable service since it's establishment in 1971 as a non-profit, volunteer-based community service organization.  The mission of the Free Clinic of Simi Valley is to provide medical care, counseling, dental and legal assistance to individuals and families in need, regardless of their ability to pay.  This includes those of all ages, ethnicities, religions and socioeconomic backgrounds, who are unable to use traditional sources within the community.  Typically, the clients of the clinic are the uninsured and the underserved.

The Free Clinic was in need of a bigger building to create a multi-service center that will house all four of the services they provide and become the home for other non-profits.  They are fortunate to have been given the opportunity to rent a large building owned by the County of Ventura for a small amount.  The building is 14,000 square feet in area and was full of office furniture .  The Free Clinic personnel were in need of removing all of this furniture and that's when the Rotary Club of Simi Sunrise got involved.  The Club was fortunate to find a non-profit company that would take the used furniture and refurbish it and deliver to other non-profits. The only thing is, they needed a lot of help in dismantling and loading of furniture onto many trucks.  This event took place over two weekends and over 250 hours of Rotarian spirits.  The camaraderie of Simi Sunrise got the job done!  By doing this great deed, the Free Clinic will be able to move forward into getting their doors open for needed community services.
