Eleven Thousand Oaks Rotary members traveled to Tijuana in January, 2025 to attend the installation of hearing aids for impoverished children. In Mexico, disabled children have no safety nets. The government doesn't provide any support for them. So hearing impaired children are isolated in their families and communities. We were able to observe the installation of hearing aids and interview the parents whose children received them.
Watching these children hear for the first time was more moving that we can express. We did this in collaboration with the Tijuana Rotary Club through a District 5240 Grant. This program will change their lives forever, giving them a chance for an education and creating lasting relationships with others.
