The Rotary Club of Ventura-East and The Rotary Club of Ventura South, as well as Ventura Rotaract and our friends and families were very adventurous on Saturday, March 10. We planted trees for The Ventura Land Trust after they lost nearly a thousand trees in the Thomas Fire around the Big Rock area and the Ventura River.
Not only did we plant trees, we did it in the rain. And we carried trees, dug holes, planted and spread mulch. We planted 135 California Live Oak saplings in less than an hour! We got wet. And I personally can’t believe how much fun it was! Thank you, Rotary International President Ian Riseley, for asking us to do this. We had over 40 people there, including District 5240 Governor Elect Sandi Schwartz. We even had two Rotarians from Thousand Oaks who joined us. Ventura Star Reporter Colleen Cason was there taking rather damp notes. Even Mother Nature helped by providing a nice rain to help our trees along.
