Last month (April 2025) 6 of our Rotaract members and our Rotary liaison partnered with Build a School Foundation and went to Vietnam to help build a school in a rural village. We raised $5,000 to fund the school build and more money for member travel expenses by selling cookbooks that we made with our own favorite recipes, as well as recipes from local Rotarians and others in the community.
Our fundraising helped add an extension to an existing school. This extension serves as a cafeteria and kitchen. Thanks to our efforts, the children in Ha Giang, Vietnam no longer have to eat their meals outside.
We got to visit the school and help lay cement for a paved school yard, meet the children, and help them practice their English. We were welcomed with a feast and celebration and got to connect with the locals, who were extremely welcoming and kind.
It was a very rewarding experience for all of us!
