Now, your club can earn a District Award for Environmental Service. The criteria guide you to project opportunities, collaborations, and community recognition yielding results that engage members, attract new members, and boost a healthier future for our communities.

For example, Rotary San Luis Obispo de Tolosa created a Plant It Forward program that plants 100 trees a year for 10 years. Our members enjoy involving their children and Interact members in the process. We’ve added new members to our club and other nearby clubs. While beautifying the community, each tree will convert over three tons of greenhouse gases from the air into living carbon in the soil.
There are many different types of projects from which your club can choose. A wonderful resource is the Environmental Service Rotary Action Group (ESRAG) www.ESRAG.org. Find out how to get involved in successful initiatives including planting pollinator gardens, participating in Million Solar Panel Challenge, reducing plastics and food waste, shifting to healthier plant-rich diets, clean cooking projects in low-income communities to reduce toxic fumes, and simple ways to reduce your club’s carbon footprint. Fifty-seven of our club members have joined ESRAG.
