Welcome Message from District Governor Dana Moldovan

Greetings Rotarians of District 5240!
It is truly an honor to serve as your District Governor for this new Rotary year.  I joined Rotary almost 20 years ago.  While I am now retired, I enjoyed a successful career as a Software Engineer.  I am now a professional volunteer!
Rotary is my life. I’m involved in multiple projects locally and internationally and also in different Rotary programs. My travels for Rotary Projects took me to many places from Nigeria to India for Polio, then Mexico, Honduras, El Salvador, Israel and Romania. I have also been fortunate to have attended 15 Rotary International Conventions.
I am also involved with Rotary Partner Mediators Beyond Borders International, whose purpose is to help build a more peaceful world.  We have peace projects all over the World, as there is so much need.  One particular project is very close to my heart – training women in peacebuilding and leadership in order to create a worldwide network of women peacebuilders.
These experiences showed me the power of Rotary, of working together, in order to help less fortunate people.  Each day I am truly inspired by all of you, our Rotarians in District 5240!  When the pandemic was upon us, our Rotarians did what you always do in a crisis.  You shifted your projects to help those in need due to the effects of Covid.  You honored first responders, essential workers and teachers.  You prioritized restocking the food banks and helping seniors in desperate need of help.  You helped local businesses and you helped people in need from other countries through several Global Grants.  You found ways to create a little comfort through virtual events and drive-in entertainment.
This is what Rotary does, and I could not be more proud of the Rotarians in our District!  My goal is to support you all in your projects and events and help guide the leadership to be the best we can be!
Thank you for your dedication to making the world a better place!
Yours in Rotary Service,
Dana Moldovan
