Changing Challenging Lives – The Next Para Olympian!
The Rotary Club of Calcutta Metropolitan (District 3291), in partnership with the Rotary Club of Moorpark (District 5240, USA), is launching a humanitarian initiative to transform the lives of physically challenged individuals in India. Despite the eradication of polio, thousands continue to live with its debilitating effects, while others face lifelong disabilities due to congenital conditions or accidents. These challenges often restrict mobility, dignity, and access to livelihood opportunities.
African Villages Water & Sanitation Project
This Global Grant initiative aligns with Rotary’s Area of Focus: Water and Sanitation Hygiene platform.
This project supports 12 villages having nearly 4,800 people comprising of vulnerable youth, rural women, and persons with disabilities, through initiatives designed to improve their long-term health and well-being, economic stability, and community pride. By implementing a Rainwater Harvest System (RWHS) we can manage and sustain meaningful change for the villagers in Bomet County.
Seeds of Dignity: Cultivating Opportunity at TOSE Respite Care Centre, Zimbabwe
This Rotary Global Grant initiative falls under the Area of Focus: Community and Economic Development, by supporting the integration of vulnerable populations into society through sustainable care and inclusive opportunity.
TOSE Respite Care Centre—meaning "everyone" in Shona—is a national welfare organization in Harare, Zimbabwe, offering rehabilitation and support services for individuals with severe and multiple disabilities. Rooted in compassion and resilience, Seeds of Dignity seeks to transform TOSE into a model of self-sustaining care through a combination of infrastructure development and income-generating ventures.
EmpowerHER: Women’s Entrepreneurship and Leadership Development
This grant is a pilot project that will assist underrepresented and vulnerable groups, such as rural women, ethnic minorities, and young urban women with basic business planning, financial literacy, and mentoring opportunities. It is designed to target 40 women (30 rural and 10 urban).
